Chapter 11 by: Michael Bell
Audio Technology:
- Traditional: One of these technologies is the audio cassette player, which can be used as a individual learning tool for students, for example as a review the day before a test you could have multiple stations setup, and one of the stations could be to listen to the audio tape of selected review topics.
- Emerging: Digital media players can be used for students whom were absent the day before. For example, if they were absent, the teacher records the lesson for the day and has the student take the media player home and listen to the lesson, so they can learn as well.
Visual Technology:
- Traditional: Materials can be printed out, for example worksheets in the classroom.
- Emerging: Compressed video teleconferencing system's can b used in the classroom in order to bring guest speakers into the classroom, without having to have the guest speaker come into the room (i.e. distance learning)

Chapter 6 by: Michael Bell
Using digital technologies in the classroom is very vital to the overall learning experience of the student. For example, the utilization of the data projector is necessary for showing math students pre-made notes and problems. However, I do believe that a teacher does not need to use all of the digital technologies available just because you can. For example, I would personally not use a PDA in the classroom, because they are too similar to a cell phone and may cause the students to either play games on the device or find a way to use the device to cheat. Using digital technologies in the classroom is helpful only if you can find ways to use it. On the other hand, if they become more of a hassle to use then they are worth, don't use them, because being an effective teacher doesn't mean you need to use a ton of technology to teach the class, it means allowing your students to learn.
