Chapter 6 by: Michael Bell
Using digital technologies in the classroom is very vital to the overall learning experience of the student. For example, the utilization of the data projector is necessary for showing math students pre-made notes and problems. However, I do believe that a teacher does not need to use all of the digital technologies available just because you can. For example, I would personally not use a PDA in the classroom, because they are too similar to a cell phone and may cause the students to either play games on the device or find a way to use the device to cheat. Using digital technologies in the classroom is helpful only if you can find ways to use it. On the other hand, if they become more of a hassle to use then they are worth, don't use them, because being an effective teacher doesn't mean you need to use a ton of technology to teach the class, it means allowing your students to learn.
